This Month's Thoughts...September (Etal)

  • I have a hard time trusting anyone that leaves yoga at Savasana.

  • You do this thing that’s all about balance, work and relaxation; you move and then you rest; so for the people that move and leave when it’s time to rest, I’m like: did you miss the point of the practice? Why do yoga? You’re a prime candidate for crossfit.

  • But it happens every time. After the active poses and stretches and you get to this point where it’s like, “Finally I’m here.” And then - pttt, dud, di, dut, dut, dut, these steps out the door, disturbing the calm and quiet. Their impatience messing up the calm for the rest of us.

  • Modern America at its worst skips savasana.

  • While running the other day, I had this thought, “I’ve been dishonest my whole life.” It doesn’t mean that I’ve lied, I just held back a lot of what I actually thought because of how others would react.

  • Which you never really know.

  • People surprise you. They react well when you think they’d react poorly. They react poorly when you think they’d react well. But since you cannot tell, you might as well say what you think and deal with it.

  • Many of us prepare for what doesn’t happen, reacting to things we think will occur but do not.

  • Something that hasn’t occurred the last few months have been these, and here’s why:

  • April: baby is born. This was amazing.

  • May: baby is infant. Some of the most special time you can have, bonding with a tiny human that relies fully on you for life.

  • June, July, and August - I took a break. It felt great.

  • I’ve been focusing on where I wanna get. You may notice the new layout of the site. While not fully finished, I’m moving in that direction, which feels great.

  • So, The Real Tom Bratt is back!
